Bringing Her Home

After extensive research and a careful evaluation of both our personal desires and financial considerations, I ultimately concluded that the Harley-Davidson Ultra Limited was the right choice for us. This machine was more than just a motorcycle—it was a powerhouse of comfort and technology. Over 900 pounds of chrome and steel, complete with cruise control, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth and GPS, and four impressively loud speakers. The seat felt more like a leather sofa than a saddle, and the storage capacity? Let’s just say it could handle a full grocery run between grocery runs. I honestly didn’t think a motorcycle could offer this much—until now.

I shopped around a few local Harley dealers and landed on Harley-Davidson of Xenia. My choice rested mostly on Google reviews, as well as experiences from a few friends of mine that had conducted business at Xenia and a few other local spots.

I decided to make the call.

After a few conversations with the sales manager and a salesman, we scheduled an appointment for me to come take a look in person. Imagine my surprise when the salesman lead me directly to the very machine I narrowed down…

She was, without question, the most breathtaking machine I had ever laid eyes on. The black steel frame, dashboard, and seat formed a bold foundation, flawlessly accented by the brilliant Redline Red paint and mirror-like chrome that gleamed in the light. Beneath all that beauty roared a Twin-Cooled Milwaukee-Eight 114 cubic inch engine, delivering a formidable 122 ft-lb of torque—no small feat considering her 917-pound wet weight. She was a masterpiece of power and elegance, and I stood there, utterly awe-struck, she was perfect.

Once I recovered from the initial wave of amazement—and the kind of giddy excitement usually reserved for kids unwrapping the hottest Christmas toy—I was introduced to the sales manager, and we got down to business. But before sealing the deal, I made a quick call to my better half to make absolutely sure we were aligned on this big step and everything that would come with it. Her response was simple and perfect: “Yes.”

It took me a few moments to gather myself after signing the paperwork. This machine was now ours to make memories with. Ours to travel with. Ours that would forever change our lives as a couple.

After a few pictures and some introductory instructions and tutorials on how to operate all the bells and whistles, I departed Xenia and headed home the long way, naturally. Strangely enough, I don’t remember much of that ride. I like to think it was a blur of pure excitement, mixed with the thrill of exploring all the features that had drawn me to this machine in the first place. But more than anything, my focus was on getting home—to share this incredible moment with Staci and show her the new prize we now called ours.

As I turned the corner to go into our neighborhood, speaker volume just shy of full-blast belting out a preconfigured “Harley” playlist and what I am positive was the biggest smile I have ever mustered, was Staci filming my arrival. I knew we had made the right decision when I glanced over and saw a smile on her face that was equal to mine.
